DUA OF THE HAJJ دعاء الحج
By Shaykh al-Islam al-Hajj Ibrahim Niasse (RA)
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
Bismillāh ar-Raḥmān ar-Raḥīm
In the name of Allah, the most-Merciful, the ever-Merciful
اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ وَ عَلَى آلِهِ وَ صَحْبِهِ وَ سَلِّمْ
Allāhumma ṣalli ‘alā Sayyidinā Muḥammadin wa ‘alā ālihī wa ṣaḥbihī wa sallam
O Allah, send Your Blessings & Salutations upon our master Muhammad and his family & Companions
لَبَّيْكَ اللَّهُمَّ لَبَّيْكَ
Labbayk Allāhumma Labbayk
Here I am at Your Service O Allah, Here I am!
لَبَّيْكَ لَا شَرِيكَ لَكَ لَبَّيْكَ
Labbayka lā sharīka laka Labbayk
Here I am at Your Service! Surely there is no partner with You! Here I am!
إِنَّ الْحَمْدَ وَالنِّعْمَةَ لَكَ وَالْمُلْكَ لَا شَرِيكَ لَكَ
Inna-l ḥamda wa-n ni‘mata laka wa-l mulk, lā sharīka lak
All Praise & all Credit is Yours! And all Authority is Yours! There is no partner with You!
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ أَنْ تُصَلِّي وَ تُسَلِّمَ عَلَى سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ وَ عَلَى آلِهِ حَقَّ قَدْرِهِ وَ مِقْدَارِهِ الْعَظِيمِ
Allāhumma innī as’aluka an tuṣalliya wa tusallima ‘alā Sayyidinā Muḥammadin wa ‘alā ālihī ḥaqqa qadrihī wa miqdārihi-l ‘aẓīm
O Allah, I ask You to send Your Blessings & Salutations upon our master Muhammad and his family, in accordance with his sublime status & his immense capacity!
وَ أَسْأَلُكَ يَا رَبَّنَا بِحَرَمِكَ أَنْ تُحَرِّمَ أَجْسَادَنَا مِنَ النَّارِ وَ مِنَ الْعَذَابِ
Wa as’aluka yā Rabbanā bi-Ḥaramika an tuḥarrima ajsādanā mina-n nāri wa mina-l ‘adhābi
And I ask You O our Lord, by Your Sacred Haram, to forbid (make Haram) our bodies from the Fire and from all punishment!
وَ بِالْأَمْنِ أَنْ تُأَمِّنَنَا مِن الْخِزْيِ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ
Wa bi-l amni an tu’amminanā mina-l khizyi fi-d dunyā wa-l ākhirah
And I ask You by the Safety & Security (of the Holy City) to secure us from Disgrace in this World and the Hereafter!
وَ بِالْبَيْتِ أَن تَبْنِيَ لَنَا كُلِّنَا بَيْتًا عِنْدَكَ فِي الْجَنَّةِ
Wa bi-l Bayti an tabniya lanā kullinā baytan ‘indaka fi-l Jannah
And I ask You by the Sacred House (Bayt-Allah), to build us all a House (Bayt) in Your Presence in Paradise!
و بِالْحَجَرِ الْأَسْوَدِ أَنْ تُسَوِّدَنَا عَلَى أَقْرَانِنَا وَ تُسْعِدَنَا
Wa bi-l Ḥajari-l Aswadi an tusawwidanā ‘alā aqrāninā wa tus‘idanā
And I ask You by the Black Stone, that You grant us dominance over our contemporaries & rivals, and complete Felicity!
وَ بِالْمُلْتَزَمِ أَنْ تُلْزِمَنَا طَاعَتَكَ عَلَى السُّنَّةِ وَالجَمَاعَةِ
Wa bi-l Multazami an tulzimanā ṭā‘ataka ‘ala-s Sunnati wa-l Jamā‘ah
And I ask You by the Multazam (the Door-handle of the Holy Ka’bah), that You make us hold on to Your obedience, upon way of the Sunnah & the Jama’ah!
وَ بِالْبَابِ أَن تَفْتَحَ لَنَا أَبْوَابَ رَحْمَتِكَ وَ خَيْرِكَ وَ فَضْلِكَ وَ تُعْطِيَنَا الدُّنْيَا وَ الْآخِرَةَ وَ مَا بَيْنَهُمَا
Wa bi-l Bābi an taftaḥa lanā abwāba raḥmatika wa khayrika wa faḍlika wa tu‘ṭiyana-d dunyā wa-l ākhirata wa mā baynahumā
And I ask You by the Bab (Door of the Holy Ka’bah), to open us for us the doors of Your Mercy, Blessings & Bounties, and that You grant (the best of) this World & the Hereafter and everything in between!
وَ بِالْحِجْرِ أَنْ تُسْكِنَنَا حَظِيرَةَ الْقُدْسِ مَعَ الَّذِينَ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ مِنَ النَّبِيئِينَ وَالصِّدِّيقِينَ وَالشُّهَدَاءِ وَالصَّالِحِينَ وَ حَسُنَ أُولَئِكَ رَفِيقًا
Wa bi-l Ḥijri an tuskinanā ḥaẓīrata-l qudsi ma‘a-lladhīna an‘amta ‘alayhim mina-n nabiyyīna wa-ṣ ṣiddīqīna wa-sh shuhadā’i wa-ṣ ṣāliḥīna wa ḥasuna ulā’ika rafīqā
And I ask You by the Hijr (Ismail), that You make us inhabit Your Sacred Sanctuary with those You have blessed, from the Prophets, Saints, Martyrs & Righteous ones!
And indeed they are the best of Company!
وَ بِالْمِيزَابِ أَنْ تُدِيمَ لَنَا الْفُيُوضَاتِ الرَّبَّانِيَّةِ وَالْفُيُوضَاتِ الْمُحَمَّدِيَّةِ وَالْفُيُوضَاتِ الْأَحْمَدِيَّةِ
Wa bi-l Mīzābi an tudīma lanā-l fuyūḍāti-l Rabbāniyyati wa-l fuyūḍāti-l Muḥammadiyyat wa-l fuyūḍāti-l Aḥmadiyyati
And I ask You by the Mizab (Rainwater channel of the Holy Ka’bah) to continue to flood us with Divine Outpourings, Muhammadan Outpourings & Ahmadan Outpourings!
وَ بِالْأَرْكَانِ أَنْ تَجْعَلَنَا مِنْ أَرْكَانِ دِينِكَ الْحَنِيفِ
Wa bi-l Arkāni an taj‘alanā min arkāni dīnika-l ḥanīfi
And I ask You by the Arkan (The Four Corners of the Holy Ka’bah) to
make us pillars (Arkan) of Your Pure Religion!
رَبَّنَا ءَاتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً و فِي الآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَ قِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ
Rabbanā wa ātinā fi-d dunyā ḥasanatan wa fi-l ākhirati ḥasanatan wa qinā ‘adhāba-n nār
O our Lord! Grant us Goodness in this World and Goodness in the Hereafter
and protect us from the Punishment of the Fire!
وَ بِمَقَامِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ أَنْ تَجْعَلَنَا إِيَّاهُ وَ مَنْ دَخَلَهُ كَانَ آمِنًا
Wa bi-Maqāmi Ibrāhīma an taj‘alanā iyyāhu wa man dakhalahū kāna āminā
And I ask You by the Maqam Ibrahim to make us (holders of) the Ibrahimi Rank
that whoever enters will be safe therein!
وَ بِبِئْرِ زَمْزَمَ أَنْ تُسْقِيَنَا كُؤُوسَ مَعْرِفَتِكَ بِأَعْظَمِ الْأَوَانِي وَ تُسْقِيَ غَلِيلَنَا وَ تَشْفِيَ عَلِيلَنَا
Wa bi-Bi’ri Zamzama an tusqiyanā ku’ūsa ma‘rifatika bi-a‘ẓami-l awānī wa tusqiya ghalīlanā wa tashfiya ‘alīlanā
And I ask You by the Well of Zamzam to grant us drink from the cups of Your Divine Knowledge, through the greatest of Vessels…and to quench our thirst & heal our illnesses!
رَبِّ زِدْنِي عِلْمًا وَ طَهَارَةً مِنْ كُلِّ وَصْفٍ يُبَاعِدُ عَنْكَ أَوْ عَنْ طَاعَتِكَ
Rabbi zidnī ‘ilman wa ṭahāratan min kulli waṣfin yubā‘idu ‘anka aw ‘an ṭā‘atika
O my Lord, increase me in Knowledge & in Purification from every trait
that distances me from You and Your worship!
وَ أَغْنِنَا بِحَلَالِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ وَ بِطَاعَتِكَ عَنْ مَعْصِيَتِكَ وَ بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ
Wa aghninī bi-ḥalālika ‘an ḥarāmika wa bi-ṭā‘atika ‘an ma‘ṣiyatika wa bi-faḍlika ‘amman siwāk
And suffice me with what You’ve permitted from what You’ve forbidden, and with Your obedience from Your disobedience & with Your Bounty from all other than You!
وَ بِبَابِ السَّلاَمِ فَحَيِّنَا بِالسَّلَامِ وَ أَدْخِلْنَا الْجَنَّةَ دَارَ السَّلَامِ
Wa bi-Bābi-s Salāmi fa-ḥayyinā bi-s salāmi wa adkhilnā-l Jannata Dāra-s Salāmi
And I ask You by Bab al-Salam that You make us live with Peace (Salam)
and enter Paradise, the abode of eternal Peace!
وَ قُلْ لَنَا قُوْلاً وَ فِعْلاً وَ حَالاً أُدْخُلُوهَا بِسَلَامٍ سَلَامٌ قَوْلاً مِنْ رَبٍّ رَحِيمٍ
Wa qul lanā qawlan wa fi‘lan wa ḥālan: Udkhulūhā bi-salāmin, salāmun qawlam-mir-Rabbir-Raḥīm
And manifest to us, in our words, actions & states, Your Divine statement:
Enter it with Peace! Peace be upon you from a Merciful Lord!
و بِالْصَّفَا فَارْزُقْنَا صَفَاءَ القَلْبِ وَ صَفَاءَ الْمَعْرِفَةِ وَ صَفَاءَ الْحَيَاةِ
وَ صَفَاءَ الْمَمَاتِ وَ صَفَاءَ الذُّرِّيَّةِ
Wa bi-ṣ Ṣafā farzuqnā ṣafā’a-l qalbi wa ṣafā’a-l ma‘rifati wa ṣafā’a-l ḥayāti wa ṣafā’a-l mamāti wa ṣafā’a-d dhurriyyati
And I ask You by the Mount of Safa that You grant us purity (Safa) of the heart, purity of knowledge, purity of life, purity of death and purity of offspring!
رَبِّ هَبْ لِي مِنْ لَدُنْكَ ذُرِّيَّةً طَيِبَةً إِنَّكَ سَمِيعُ الدُّعَاءِ
Rabbi hab lī min ladunka dhurriyyatan ṭayyibatan innaka samī‘u-d du‘ā’
O my Lord! Grant me from You, pious offspring! For You’re the answerer of supplications!
وَبِالْمَرْوَةِ رَبَّنَا أَنْ تَهَبَ لَنَا كَمَالَ الْمُرُوءَةِ يَا رَبَّنَا يَا مَوْلَانَا
Wa bi-l Marwati Rabbanā an tahaba lanā kamāla-l murū’ati yā Rabbanā yā Mawlānā
And I ask You O our Lord by the Mount of Marwah to grant us
perfection in Manly Character (Muru’ah)…O Our Lord O Our Protector!
وَ بِمِنًى أَبْلِغْنَا الْمُنَى
Wa bi-Minan ablighnā-l munā
And I ask You by the plains of Mina to make us attain our aspirations (Muna)!
وَبِالْخَيْفِ فَنَجِّنَا مِنَ الْحَيْفِ وَ قِنَا فِتْنَةَ الْجِيَفِ
Wa bi-l Khayfi fa-najjinā mina-l ḥayfi wa qinā fitnata-l jīfi
And I ask You by the holy Khayf (Mosque in Mina) to save us from all harm (Hayf)
and protect us from the trial of the corpses (in their graves)!
وَ بِعَرَفَةٍ كَمَالَ مَعْرِفَةِ ذَاتِكَ الْعَلِيَّةِ وَ صِفَاتِكَ الْبَهِيَّةِ وَ أَسْمَائِكَ الْعَظِيمَةِ السَّنِيَّةِ
Wa bi-‘Arafātin kamāla ma‘rifati dhātika-l ‘aliyyati wa ṣifātika-l bahiyyati wa asmā’ika-l ‘aẓīmati-s saniyyati
And I ask You by Arafah, the complete Knowledge (Ma’rifah) of Your Lofty Essence (Dhat), Your Luminous Attributes (Sifat) & Your Sublime & Shining Names (Asma)!
وَ بِمَسْجِدِ الْخَلِيلِ فَاتَّخِذْنَا خَلِيلاً
Wa bi-Masjidi-l Khalīli fa-ttakhidhnā khalīlā
And I ask You by the Mosque of the Khalil (Ibrahim) to take us Your Khalils (Friends)!
وَ بِالْمُزْدَلِفَةِ كَمَالَ الْقُرْبِ تُقَرِّبُنَا إِلَيْكَ زُلْفَى
Wa bi-l Muzdalifati kamāla-l qurbi tuqarribunā ilayka zulfā
And I ask You by the plains of Muzdalifah to grant us perfect proximity (to You)
And that You draw us closer & nearer to You always!
وَ بِالْمَشْعَرِ الْحَرَامِ فَأَشْعِرْ قُلُوبَنَا عَظَمَةِ دِينِنَا وَ نَبِيِّنَا بِتَعْظِيمِ رَبِّنَا
Wa bi-l Mash‘ari-l Ḥarāmi fa-ash‘ir qulūbanā ‘aẓamata Dīninā wa Nabiyyinā bi-ta‘ẓīmi Rabbinā
And I ask You by the holy Mash’ar al-Haram (Mosque in Muzdalifah) that You make our hearts experience the greatness of our Deen and our Prophet, as exalted by our Lord!
وَ بِكُلِّ جَمْرَةٍ فَأَوْقِدْ فِي قُلُوبِنَا جَمَرَاتِ مَحَبَّتِكَ
Wa bi-kulli jamratin fa-awqid fī qulūbinā jamarāti maḥabbatik
And I ask You by every Jamarah that You set alight in our hearts
the embers (Jamarat) of Your Love!
وَارْجُمْ بِنَا الشَّيْطَانَ الرَّجِيمَ وَ حِزْبَهُ يَا رَحِيمُ
Wa-rjum binā-sh Shayṭāna-r Rajīma wa ḥizbahū yā Raḥīm
So pelt through us, the accursed Satan & his party, O Merciful Lord!
وَ بِالْعَقَبَةِ فَاقْطَعْ عَنَّا الْعَقَبَاتِ فَنَقْتَحِمُ الْعَقَبَةَ بِفَكِّ رَقَبَةٍ
وَ إِطْعَامٍ فِي يَومٍ ذِي مَسْغَبَةٍ يَتِيماً ذَا مَقْرَبَةٍ وَ مِسْكِينًا ذَا مَتْرَبَةٍ
Wa bi-l ‘Aqabati fa-qṭa‘ ‘annā-l ‘aqabāti fa-naqtaḥima-l ‘aqabata bi-fakki raqabah
aw iṭ‘āmun fī yawmin dhī masghabatin yatīman dhā maqrabatin aw miskīnan dhā matrabah
And I ask You by the Hill pass of Aqabah to remove from our way all obstacles (Aqabat) so that we may overcome the most difficult of pathways, by freeing a slave or feeding on a day of severe hunger; an orphan of near relation or a needy one in poverty!
وَ نَكُونَ مَعَ الَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا وَ تَوَاصَوْا بِالصَّبْرِ وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالْمَرْحمَةِ
Wa nakūna ma‘a-lladhīna āmanū wa tawāṣaw bi-ṣ ṣabri wa tawāṣaw bi-l marḥamah
And that we’re among those who believed and advised each other of Patience & Mercy!
وَ بَالْهَدَايَا فَأَكْثِرْ لَنَا الْهَدَايَا وَالْعَطَايَا
Wa bi-l hadāyā fa-akthir lanā-l hadāyā wa-l ‘aṭāyā
And I ask You by the Hadaya (Sacrifical Animals) to
increase our Divine gifts (Hadaya) & bounties!
وَ بِالنَّحْرِ فَارْزُقْنَا نَحْرَ نُفُوسِنَا فِيكَ وَ تَرْزُقَنَا الْحَيَاةَ الْأَبَدِيَّةَ
Wa bi-n naḥri farzuqnā naḥra nufūsinā fīka wa tarzuqunā-l ḥayāta-l abadiyyah
And I ask You by the Nahr (Animal Sacrifice) that You grant us to sacrifice ourselves
for Your Sake and attain the Eternal Life!
وَ بِالْإِفَاضَةِ تُفِيضُ إِلَى قُلُوبِنَا الْعُلُومَ وَ الْأَسْرَارَ
Wa bi-l ifāḍati tufīḍu ilā qulūbinā-l ‘ulūma wa-l asrār
And I ask You by the Ifadah (Pouring forth of the Pilgrims to the Holy City) that You
continuously pour forth into to our hearts Divine Knowledge & Secrets!
وَ كُلُّ هَذَا مَعَ الْعَافِيَة وَالسَّلَامَةِ
Wa kullu hādhā ma‘a-l ‘āfiyati wa-s salāmah
And I ask You to grant us all of the above, with full Security & Safety!
وَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَى سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ وَ عَلَى آلِهِ حَقَّ قَدْرِهِ وَ مِقْدَارِهِ الْعَظِيمِ
Wa ṣallallāhu ‘alā Sayyidinā Muḥammadin wa ‘alā ālihī ḥaqqa qadrihī wa miqdārihi-l ‘aẓīm
And may Allah send His Blessings upon our master Muhammad and his family in accordance with his sublime status & his immense capacity!

هَذَا التَّوَسُلُ
وَرَدَ عَلَى مَوْلانَا صَاحِبَ الفَيْضَةِ التِّجَانِيَّةِ الشَيْخِ الْحَاجِ
إبْراهِيمَ عَبْدُاللهِ نِيَاسْ الْكَوْلَخِي
رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ
يَوْمَ التَّرْوِيَةِ فِي إِحْدَى حَجَّاتِه الْمَشْهُودَاتِ

Bughyat al-Mustafid is one of the most important works on the history and rulings of the Tijani Tariqah. Written by Sidi al-Arabi ibn Sa'ih, nicknamed the "Bukhari of the Path", it summarizes the biographical accounts from Jawahir al-Ma'ānī and codifies the rulings of the path that had been scattered in different locations. The author's critical placement in the history of the path, having met many of the Companions of the Shaykh himself, as well as many of the imminent muqaddams, made him an indispensable source of clarity on many of the issues a Tijani disciple will face while walking the path.
The book also serves as a bridge to longer or more complicated works. It has been said, "If you want to read Jawahir al-Ma'ani, read Bughyat al-Mustafid first." This is because he clarifies some of the issues in Jawahir al-Ma'ani that may lead to a disciple having doubts or some misunderstandings.
