During one his trips to Morocco, Shaykh Ibrahim Niasse (RA) was gifted the blessed Cane of Mawlana Shaykh Ahmad al-Tijani (RA) by one of his descendants, Sharif Sidi al-Bashir, in Rabat. Referring to this, Shaykh Ibrahim (RA) wrote:
بشراي حزت الذي عز مدركه
عصا الإمام التجاني صرت أملكه
و غير ذلك مما لست أذكره
لكنني حزت سراً عز مدركه
Glad-tidings to me! I have gained that which is most difficult to gain!
I’ve come to possess the Cane of the Shaykh al-Tijani (RA)!
And other things that I cannot mention…
Surely I’ve attained a secret most exceptional to attain!
And he (RA) also wrote in another place:
يا من يريد التجاني: أي مصافحة
في بيت برهام تلفيها مكافحة
و لم أقل فنداً و لا مبالغة
و إن أردت فسلنيها مواجهة
بمقبض الشيخ مسك...تي مصافحة
O you who wishes to shake the hands of Shaykh (Ahmad) Tijani
You can attain that in the house of Barham openly!
And I don’t state this falsely or exaggerating
So if you wish, ask me about it face to face…
Here! Hold the handle of the Cane of the Shaykh (al-Tijani)
And there…you’ve shaken his blessed hand!
After Shaykh Ibrahim Niasse (RA), this blessed Tijani Cane went into the possession of Saydi Ali Cisse (RA), then his son our master Shaykh Hassan Cisse (RA), and is currently in the possession of his brother Shaykh Ahmad Tijani Cisse, Chief Imam of Medina-Baye.
