THE DUA OF SHAYKH AL-ISLAM IBRAHIM NIASSE (RA) ON THE FIRST NIGHT OF RAMADAN

(دُعَاءُ أَوَّلُ لَيْلَةٍ مِنْ رَمَضَانِ لِلشَّيْخِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ نِيَاس)

اللَّهُمَّ وَ هَذِهِ أَوَّلُ لَيْلَةٍ مِنْ رَمَضَانِ الْأَبْرَكِ، حَبِيبَكَ مِنَ الشُّهُورِ 

​Allāhumma wa hādhihi awwalu laylatin min Ramaḍāna-l abrak, ḥabībaka mina-sh shuhūri.

O Allah! This is the first night of the most blessed month of Ramadan… Your beloved from all months!

فَأَفِضْ عَلَيْنَا فِيهِ مِنْ مَوَاهِبِكَ الإِمْتِنَانِيَّةِ مَا تُغْنِينَا بِهِ عَنْ غَيْرِكَ

​Fa-afiḍ ‘alaynā fīhi min mawāhibika-l imtināniyyati mā tughnīnā bihi ‘an ghayrika.

So pour upon us - in it - from Your Gracious Gifts, that will free us from all other than You!

 وَارْزُقْنَا أَدَاءَهُ عَلَى مَا تُحِبُّ وَ تَرْضَى، وَ تَقَبَّلْ مِنَّا فَضْلًا مِنْكَ

​Warzuqnā adā’ahu ‘alā mā tuḥibbu wa tarḍā, wa taqabba-l minnā faḍlan minka.

And grant us to fulfil its duties in a manner that pleases & satisfies You...l

And accept it from us, purely through Your Generosity!

 وَارْزُقْنَا التَّأْيِيدَ لِصِيَامِهِ وَ قِيَامِهِ وَالصَّبْرَ فِيهِ وَالْمُوَاسَاةِ 

Warzuqnā at-ta’yīda li-ṣiyāmihi wa qiyāmihi wa-ṣ ṣabra fīhi wa-l muwāsāh.

And grant us the strength to Fast & Pray in it, and to have Patience in it! And to have Compassion for others in it! 

وَأَدَاءِ الْفُرُوضِ وَالنَّوَافِلِ وَالرَّوَاتِبِ وَالْإِطْعَامِ والْإِسْقَاءِ وَالتَّخْفِيفِ 

​Wa adā’il-furūḍi wa-n nawāfili wa-r rawātibi wa-l iṭ‘āmi wa-l isqā’i wa-t takhfīfi.

And to uphold all the Fards, Nafils & Sunnahs in it! 

And to provide food & drink & relief in it (to the needy)!

وَ شَهَادَةِ أَنْ لَا إلَهَ إِلَّا اللهَ وَالْإِسْتِغْفَارِ وَسُؤَالَكَ الْجَنَّةَ وَالْإِسْتِعَاذَةَ بِكَ مِنَ النَّارِ

Wa shahādati an lā ilāha illallāh wa-l istighfāri wa su’ālaka-l jannata wa-l isti‘ādhata bika mina-n nāri.

And to testify La ilaha illa Allah & recite Istighfar in it!  

And to beseech You for Paradise & seek Your protection from Hellfire!

وَلَا يَأْتِي آخِرَ هَذَا الشَّهْرِ إِلَّا وَأَرَيْتَنَا مَخَايِلَ الْإِجَابَةِ فِي جَمِيعِ مَا سَأَلْنَاكَ جَلْبًا وَ دَفْعًا وَ تَسْخِيرًا 

Wa lā ya’tī ākhira hādha-sh shahri illā wa araytanā makhāyila-l ijābati fī jamī‘i mā sa’alnāka jalban wa daf‘an wa taskhīrā.

And may this month not end until You’ve clearly shown us the signs of Acceptance of all that we requested from You, from Needs, Protections & Powers!

يَا غِيَاثِي يَا رَبِّ أَنْقِذْنَا مِنَ الضَّلَالِ وَاسْلُكْ بِي مَنَاهِجَ الْكَمَالِ

Yā ghiyāthī yā Rabbī anqidhnā mina-d ḍalāli, wasluk bī manāhija-l kamāli.

O my Supporter O Lord! Save us from Misguidance!    

 And make me traverse the Path of Perfection!

إِنْ كُنْتُ قَدْ غَفَلْتُ أَوْ سَهَوْتُ

فَنَحْوَ مَا سِوَاكَ مَا سَعَيْتُ

​In kuntu qad ghafaltu aw sahawtu ... 

fa-naḥwa mā siwāka mā sa‘aytu.

Even if I have been heedless or faulty...

To other than You I have not turned!

غَيْرَكَ مَا أَرَدْتُ مَا أَرَدْتُ

و إِنْ أَرَدْتُهُ فَقَدْ ضَلَلْتُ

Ghayraka mā aradtu mā aradtu ... 

wa in aradtuhu faqad ḍalaltu.

Other than You, I have never sought...

For if I seek other than You, I’m certainly misguided!

يَسِّرْ لِيَ الْمُرَادَ وَالنَّجَاحَا

وَ أَعْطِنِي الرَّاحَةَ وَالصَّلَاحَا

Yassir liya-l murāda wa-n najāḥā ... 

wa a‘ṭinī-r rāḥata wa-ṣ ṣalāḥā.

So facilitate for me my Needs & all Success!

And grant me Ease & Righteousness!

أَجِبْ أَيَا رَبِّ وَقَدْ وَنَيتُ

وَ إِنْ فَقَدْتُ عَطْفَةً هَلَكْتُ

​Ajib ayā Rabbī wa qad wanaytu ... 

wa in faqadtu ‘aṭfatan halaktu.

Answer my prayer O my Lord, for I’ve become weak...

And if I lose Your Compassion, I will certainly perish!

ثَمْرَةُ مَا غَرَسْتُ لِي أَرَدْتُ

حِسًّا وَ مَعْنًى رَبِّ مَا بَقِيتْ

Thamrata mā gharastu lī aradtu ... 

ḥissan wa ma‘nan Rabbī mā baqītu.

I wish to see the fruits of what I've farmed....

Materially & Spiritually…as long as I live!

يَارَبِّ صَلِّيَنْ عَلَى الْمُخْتَارِ

وَ آلِهِ وَ صَحْبِهِ الْأَخْيَارِ

​Yā Rabbī ṣalliyan ‘ala-l mukhtārī ... 

wa ālihi wa ṣaḥbihi-l akhyāri.

O my Lord! Send Your Blessings upon the Chosen (Prophet)

And upon his righteous Family & Companions!

MAJAMI’ AL-HAMD (THE MOST COMPREHENSIVE OF PRAISES)

A COMPREHENSIVE PRAISE (HAMD) OF ALLAH مَجَامِعُ الْحَمْدِ

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّه بِجَمِيعِ مَحَامِدِهِ

All praise be to Allah by all His praises!

 

 وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ عَلَى جَمِيعِ مَحَامِدِهِ

And all praise be to Allah for all His praises!

 

 وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ عَدَدَ مَحَامِدِهِ

And all praise be to Allah according to the number of all His praises!

 

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ بِجَمِيعِ صِفَاتِهِ 

All praise be to Allah by all His Attributes!

 

وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ عَلَى جَمِيعِ صِفَاتِهِ

And all praise be to Allah for all His Attributes!

 

وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ عَدَدَ جَمِيعِ صِفَاتِهِ

And all praise be to Allah according to the number of all His Attributes!

 

 الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ بِلِسَانِ سَيِّدِنَا محَمَّدٍ

All praise be to Allah by the tongue of our master Muhammad (SAW)!

 

وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ عَلَى سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ

And all praise be to Allah for our master Muhammad (SAW)!

وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ مِقْدَارَ سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ

And all praise be to Allah according to the capacity our master Muhammad (SAW)!

 

الحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ بِلِسَانِ الصِّدِّيقِ الْأَكْبَرِ

All praise be to Allah by the tongue of the greatest Siddiq (Believer)!

 

وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ عَلَى الصِّدِّيقِ الْأَكْبَرِ

And all praise be to Allah for the greatest Siddiq (Believer)!

 

وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ مِقْدَارَ الصِّدِّيقِ الْأَكْبَرِ

And all praise be to Allah according to the capacity of the greatest Siddiq (Believer)!

 

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ بِأَلْسِنَةِ جَمِيعِ خَلْقِهِ

All praise be to Allah by the tongue of all His creation!

 

وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ عَلَى جَمِيعِ خَلْقِهِ 

And all praise be to Allah for all His creation!

 

وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ عَدَدَ جَمِيعِ خَلْقِهِ

And all praise be to Allah according to the number of all His creation!

 

الحمْد لِلَّهِ بِجَمِيعِ نِعَمِهِ

All praise be to Allah by all His favours!

 

وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ عَلَى جَمِيعِ نِعَمِهِ 

And all praise be to Allah for all His favours!

وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ عَدَدَ جَمِيعِ نِعَمِهِ

And all praise be to Allah according to the number of all His favours!

 

وَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَى سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ

And may Allah send His blessings on our master Muhammad

 

وَ آلِهِ وَ صَحْبِهِ وَ سَلَّمَ

And his Family & Companions

حَقَّ قَدْرِهِ وَ مِقْدَارهِ الْعَظِيمِ 

According to his immense rank & capacity!

NOTE

This is a very special prayer of praise that was inspired to Mawlana Shaykh-al-Islam Ibrahim Niasse (RA) from the Divine Presence, in which our Creator Most High is praised from different angles and at various levels of the Divine Manifestation. 

It is for this reason that Shaykh Ibrahim (RA) aptly named it as Majami’ al-Hamd i.e. The Most Comprehensive of Praises or The Combination of all Praises. 

It may be recited any time of the day and the night with the sole intention of praising Our Creator Most High!
