THE DUA OF THE NEEDY SERVANT  

To be recited in times of dire need

وَارِدٌ وَرَدَ وَٱلدُّعَاءُ بِهِ مُسْتَجَابٌ خُصُوصًا وَقْتَ اضْطِرَارِ الْعَبْدِ 

Inspired to Shaykh-al-Islam Ibrahim Niasse (RA)

       

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

 

In the name of Allah, the Most-Merciful, the Ever-Merciful

 

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ إِيَّاكَ

Allahumma Innī as'aluka iyyāka 

O Allah! I ask You for YOU!

 

رَبِّ إِنِّي لِمَا أَنْزَلْتَ إِلَيَّ مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَقِيرٌ

 Rabbi Innī Limā Anzalta Ilayya min Khayrin Faqeer. 

O my Lord! I am needy of the blessings YOU have sent down for me!

 

بَلْ إِنِّي إلَيْكَ فَقِيرٌ

 Bal Innī ilayka faqeer. 

In fact, I am needy of YOU!

 

فَكُلُّ مَا أَنْزَلْتَهُ فَلَهُ انْتِهَاءٌ يَبْقَىٰ بَعْدَهُ الْفَقْرُ

 fa-kullu mā anzaltahu falahu-ntihā'un yabqā ba‘adahu-l faqru.  

For everything You send down has an end....but our need of YOU continues after that!

 

رَبِّ إِنِّي إِلَيكَ فَقِيرٌ

Rabbi Innī ilayka Faqeer, 

O my Lord! I am needy of YOU!

 

فَمَا يَكْفِ الْفَضْلُ عَنِ الْعَفْوِ

famā yakfi-l fadlu ‘ani-l ‘afwi, 

For Your Grace does not suffice from Your Pardon!

 

وَ لاَ الْعَفْوُ عَنِ الْمَغْفِرَةِ

walā-l afwu ‘ani-l maghfirati   

And Your Pardon does not suffice from Your Forgiveness!

وَ لاَ الْمَغْفِرَةُ عَنِ الْإِحْسَانِ وَ الْكَرَمِ الْجَمِّ الَّذِى لاَ انْقِطَاعَ لَهُ أَبَدًا

 walā-l maghfiratu ‘ani-l ih'sān wa-l karami-l jammi-l ladhī lā-nqitā‘a lahu abadān, 

And Your forgiveness does not suffice from Your Favour

and unlimited & never-ending Generosity!

 

فَكُلُّ مَا سِوَاكَ لاَ يُغْنِى عَنْكَ

 fa-kullu mā siwāka lā yughnī ‘anka

For anything other than You does not suffice from YOU!

 

يَا أَكْرَمَ الْأَكْرَمِينَ

 Yā Akrama-l Akrameen 

O Most Generous of the Generous!

 

يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ

Yā Ar'hama-r Rāhimeen 

O Most Merciful of the Merciful!

 

يَا خَيْرَ الرَّازِقِينَ

Yā Khayra-r Raziqeen,  

O Best of Providers!

 

وَ صَلِّ وَ سَلِّمْ عَلَى سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ

Wa salli wa salim ‘alā Sayyidinā Muhammadin, 

Then send Your blessings & salutations on our master Muhammad!

 

أَقْبِلْ إِلَيْنَا بِوَجْهِكَووَاقْبَلْنَا 

wa-qbalnā wa aqbil ilaynā bi-waj'hika 

And accept us & turn towards us with Your (Kind) Face!

 

وَ أَدِمْ عَلَيْنَا سِتْرَكَ وَ عَافِيَتَكَ وَ عَطَايَاكَ يَا ذَا الْجَلاَل وَ الْإكْرَامِ

 wa adim ‘alaynā sitraka wa ‘āfiyataka wa ‘atāyāka Yā Dhā-l Jalāli wa-l Ikrāmi, 

And continue Your Cover, Security & Favours upon us O Mighty & Charitable One!

 

وَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَى سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ وَ صَحْبِهِ وَ سَلَّمَ تَسْلِيمًا

 Wa sallā-llahu ‘alā Sayyidinā Muhammadin wa Ālihi wa Sah'bihi wa sallama tasleemān.   

And may Allah send His blessings upon our master Muhammad and his Family & Companions....and many Salutations!
