CAN YOU BE A TIJANI AND A SHIA AT THE SAME TIME?

QUESTION

Salaam Alaykum Sidi, I want to know the stand of a Shi'a adherent in the Tariqa of Tijaniyyah? 

I kindly and humbly await your answer.

ANSWER

Wa Alaykum As-Salam Sidi

Shia'ism has two aspects;

One: To love, honor and praise Imam Ali (AS) and the Ahl al-Bayt, and believe in their spiritual superiority. 

This aspect is already a part of our Tijaniyyah teachings and we have no problem with it. Shaykhuna Ahmad al-Tijani (RA) was Fana in Ahl al-Bayt.

Two: To disparage, insult and curse the senior Companions of the Prophet (SAW) and his Wives.

This we totally reject, as Adab for the Sahabah is a must. If we are not to curse ordinary Muslims and think good of them, then what more about great  Sahabah?

Shaykh Ahmad Tijani (RA) confirmed that the 4 Khulafa Rashidun attend the Wazifah with Rasul-Allah (SAW).

So how can you be a Tijani and still hate them?

As for the people who fought and killed Ahl al-Bayt, like Yazid bin Muawiyah, then Shaykh al-Tijani (RA) himself cursed him.

He was not a companion of the Prophet (SAW), but an illegitimate ruler.

All our Shaykhs were Sunnis, who loved the Ahl al-Bayt. 

We follow their middle way.
