ATTAINING WILAYAH (SAINTHOOD) IN MODERN TIMES

ATTAINING WILAYAH IN MODERN TIMES

In this new feature Imam Fakhruddin Owaisi answers questions concerning spirituality and practice submitted to him from seekers of truth from across the globe.

Question:

As-Salam Alaykum,

Sidi, how can I become a Wali when I am surrounded by Dunya all the time? I am a University student and I don't have time to go out in seclusion away from people. After studies, I will work in an office with worldly people. How can I find Sainthood in such circumstances?

Answer:

Wa Alaykum As-Salam dear Tijani brother,

The journey of a Tijani Murid is in the HEART. It is there that you must establish a complete connection with Allah, concentration on Allah and Consciousness of Allah. It is not about going to Mountains and Jungles. That is a lower form of Sufism that we Tijanis don't ascribe to.

We believe in Finding and Experiencing Allah wherever we are. Right here in our homes and colleges and with our friends. We see Allah with us all the time.

Wallahi, there are many Tijanis who even if you put them in the middle of a Movie cinema, their heart will be so concentrated on Allah that many Alims wont have that kind of concentration in Salah!

There are numerous Tijani Awliya who are lawyers, doctors, policemen, actors, businessmen…etc. Their profession may hide their Maqams, but it is apparent to Allah.

Indeed, your profession does not make any difference if your heart is totally in love with Allah, Rasul (SAW) and the Shaykh (RA).
Sayyidina Sahib al-Faydah Shaykh Ibrahim Niyass (RA) wrote:

And the Journey (of spiritual growth) in Our Tijani Path
Is based on the Heart (and its annihilation in Allah) and not on the Body (and its acts)

Whatever your circumstances and outward surroundings; you continue swimming in the oceans of knowing and understanding Allah (SWT), Muhammad (SAW) and Ahmad (RA). Seek support in that swim from Ibrahim (RA). Success is guaranteed when your heart revolves between these Four!

They are Four but One for those who know. And you will also know when you cease being the fifth.

May Allah open the Hearts to Himself.
Amin Bi-Jahi Zeenat al-Hadarati Mawlana Muham-mad (SAW).
