STUDYING IN MEDINA AL-MUNAWWARA?
Question:
Salams Sidi. I plan to study in Medina, can
you give me any advice?
Answer:
Wa Alaykum As-Salam dear Sidi,
Ma Sha Allah! It’s great to study in Medina, in the Sacred Presence of the Prophet (SAW)!
However, like in his era, today also there are many Munafiqin surrounding the Presence.
In his era, they used to try to divert any
newcomer from his Presence and make him disrespect and undermine the Habib
(SAW). Today the wahhabi-salafi munafiqin continue to do that.
Therefore, Sidi must be very careful of not
getting influenced by their Fitnah ideology. You must keep your eyes open, and
more importantly, attach your heart and soul to the Blessed Hadrah of the
Prophet (SAW), making daily Ziyarah and reciting the Salat-ul-Fatih a lot.
The “Islamic” University of Medina is an
officially Wahhabi Institute established to promote Wahhabism in the Muslim
world. It was established (outside of the City of Medina though!) to replace
the Traditional Sunni 4 Madh-hab system of studies that had continued unabated
in the Haram al-Nabawi for 1400 years. It has caused immense damage to our societies
by the fanatics and extremists it has produced and exported to our lands over
the last 4 decades. Their company hardens the heart and makes one disrespect
Allah, His Habib (SAW), His Awliya and in fact the whole Ummah. You look at
everyone with the eyes of Takfir, wearing the dark-glasses of false salafism.
Therefore one must find the company of good
Sufi brothers whose company will revive the Love for Allah and His Habib (SAW).
Medina is full of such people. There are
many Zawiyahs of all the Turuq in Medina, but they are all hidden due to the
Wahhabi menace. Anyone from the University is considered suspect by the
Zawiyahs there.
I myself attended in at least 3 Tijani
Zawiyahs there!
There are many Ulama and Awliya, but they
keep a low profile in order to save themselves from Wahhabi persecution.
I can introduce the brother to many good
people, but you must contact me when you are already in Medina.
Nevertheless, due to all this pressure, it
is better to to study elsewhere, such as Egypt, Yemen, Jordan, Sudan or
Mauritania.
Remember! Our SUNNI AQIDAH and SUFI WAY OF
LOVE is more important to us than all knowledge of Arabic and Fiqh and outward
Shariah details. Arabic is USELESS if you have lost the love of Rasul-Allah
(SAW).
May Allah keep our hearts in Love with His
Habib (SAW) and His Awliya (RA) forever.
