HOW TO DEAL WITH FITNAH IN TARIQAH?

QUESTION:

As-Salam Alaykum Sidi

How do we deal with Fitnah in the Tariqah, especially between Muqaddams?

ANSWER:

Wa Alaykum As-Salam Sidi al-Habib

I pray all is well with you and your loved ones.

It is normal for rifts and misunderstandings to emerge among religious groups.

Even the Sahabah of the Prophet (SAW) had major differences and fought wars against each other. Yet their maqams remained intact (with some better than others of course).

This usually happens after the disappearance of the common MASTER.

The maqams of many successors are nearly the same, so there is conflict among their students as to who is "The Master" now.

All we need to do is:

- Carry on practicing the essential teachings of the Tariqah (Wird, Wazifah, Haylalah), as the greatest Sirr and barakah is in them.

- Carry on loving Allah, loving Rasul-Allah (SAW), loving Shaykh Ahmad Tijani, loving Sahib al-Faydah, and loving your Shaykh. Love does wonders wallahi!

- Hold on to an AUTHENTIC SHAYKH in the Tariqah (e.g. Shaykh Tijani Cisse, Shaykh Mahy, Shaykh Khayri, Sharif Ibrahim Salih..etc).

- Stay far away from that which doesn't concern us

As far as muqaddams are concerned, They are humans and can display human failings. They must be judged by the standards of the Shariah, Tariqah and Haqiqah.

If they err, they should be corrected with respect. If they keep on erring, then one should avoid them. If their erring is harming the general population then one may even issue a warning about them (only with the permission of the SHAYKH).

Tariqah is not a CULT and should never be. Cultish behavior should be discouraged all the time.

Shaykhuna Ahmad al-Tijani (RA) stated that "the words of all people (including himself) are subject to Shari'ah. If they conform, then accept them. If they don't, then ignore them".

Shaykh Ibrahim Niasse (RA) stated that "I am only a Tijani when I pick up my beads after Fajr and Asr, Other than that, I am a Muslim".

May Allah keep us all steadfast on the Path of Islam, Iman and Ihsan.
