QUESTIONS REGARDING WIRDS AND WAZIFAH

QUESTIONS:

As-Salaam Alaykum my dear brother,

I hope this Email finds you in perfect health and spirits. I am writing to ask a few things:

I have already started to recite the Wazifah, al-hamdulillah, but still I am reciting 20 Salat al-Fatih instead of 12 Jawharat ul-Kamal, because I haven't memorized it, and also because most of the time I do it in my bedroom, which is a little bit full, bed, computer, chair, bags, etc... therefore I am not sure if the space is adequate. And I read that it needs to be a place large enough for six people if you want to recite the 12 Jawharat ul-Kamal.

Can you please explain to me to conditions preconditions for reciting the Wazifah? Is the Wazifah more important than the Awrad?

I haven't started the Haylala on Fridays, should I start it as well? What are the best timings?

For the Awrad, Wazifah and Haylala, if you are reciting and for some reason you're forced to stop, then you continue, does that count as valid? Is there some kind of expiation in such cases?

One last thing:

I am a Hanafi, and when I go on a long journey, I reduce the number of Rakahs in Zohor, 'Asr, and 'Isha prayers. Is that applicable for the Awrad, Wazifah and Hadrah as well?

Also:

- When can a mureed start making Tarbiyah?

- Does it work for everyone? Are there conditions to start it?

- It is based on the Awrad and Salat al-Fatih...does that mean that when we are reciting our Awrads on a daily basis we are somehow preparing ourselves for Tarbiyah?

- What is the difference between Arif and Wali?

ANSWERS

Wa Alaykum As-Salam my beloved brother,

Try to read Wazifah in the Mosque then. Although I must mention that the condition of having a space for 6 people is only a recommendation, and NOT obligation, according to most of our Shaykhs. Therefore, if the room is clean, you may do it there also.

The two Wirds are the Pillars for the Wazifah, which is greater of course, due to the presence of the Rasul (SAW) in it.

Like the Wirds, the Wazifah requires Wudu as well. You should face the Qiblah.

If you break the Wird or Wazifah, then you have to do it over again. You should also recite 100 Astaghrifullah as expiation, with 1 Salat al-Fatih before and after,

You should now start the Friday Haylala as well.

You recite: Surat al-Fatihah once, Astaghfirullah al-Azim...(Wazifah style) 3 times, then Salat al-Fatih 3 times, then Subhana Rabbika...then La iaha illAllah 1600 times. You conclude with Muhammadun Rasul-Allah. Then You end with 1 Fatihah and 3 Salat al-Fatih.

It should be done in the hour before Maghrib (sunset), ideally. Or, if impossible that time, then immediately after Asr.

During travel, you may read the Asr Wird earlier, i.e. after Zuhr as well. You may also recite the Wazifah riding, but without Jawharat al-Kamal, replacing it with 20 Salat al-Fatih.

You may proceed with Tarbiyah only after you are practising the 5 Salahs and Awrad fully, and wish to Worship and Know Allah more. It is not obligatory in our Tariqah. But it is always beneficial to increase our worship. It is also based on Salat al-Fatih.

The Wali is a Friend of Allah. The Arif is the Knower of Allah.

Not every Wali is an Arif. But every Arif is a Wali.
